Ik greep er naast afgelopen maandag; de lezing die Richard Dawkins op 12 januari zal geven in de Nieuwe Kerk in Groningen was binnen 10 minuten uitverkocht. De servers stonden te roken, website onbereikbaar, kansloze zaak. €5,- moesten ze kosten, die kaarten. Inmiddels wordt er grof geld voor geboden.
Dawkins schreef in 1976 zijn meesterwerk The Selfish Gene, en een paar jaar geleden het boek waarmee hij bij het grote publiek bekend (berucht) werd: The God Delusion.
